March 2020 - New Music Playlist - Indie & Chill

Its been a while since I posted some new music and I've got a handful of new tracks to share. There is a selection of my favorite tracks that bands send in and some of these are bands I've stumbled upon in my musical journey.

So if you're in need of a new pick-me-up or some music to enjoy whilst you self-isolate from the world (whether that be because of this years deadly virus or just because you need don't like people) - then you've come to the right place! Playlist here and embedded below; Indie & Chill - March 2020

Joesef - Think That I Don't Need Your Love, we bumped into Joesef's guitarist James whilst in Glasgow watching Weekend Debt and what a find this is! He's been compared to Amy Winehouse and you will understand why, with his cool mix of chilled soul, jazz, bluesy, easy music to relax your soul.
Check out the EP Play Me Something Nice.
Also check out Joesef's Tour as the guys are down from Scotland to tour the UK over the next few weeks. We're going to YES to see them.

Dancing On Tables - Not to Need You, I also really like Body and Black. These 5 lads from Fife make up the Pop-Rock band, they have a really funky sound which literally makes you want to dance on tables. Check them out and if you're quick they're are the start of a nationwide Tour!

Snowflake Generation - Wake Me Up is there new track, Part of Me & Madness are on Spotify and they are decent tracks too. They're really coming along and getting a bit of a following in the Midlands and take a lot a influence from some of our favs! They're also doing a few gigs around Birmingham, Wrexham and London - we've got our eyes on when they come to Manc!

The K's - Got a Feeling is there new track, we also really like Glass Towns! The K's are a fast pace than the last 3 the have a similar vibe to No Hot Ashes & Weekend Debt so they're gonna be a winner in our books. There's some very Punky tracks too, bonus.

ZORILA - Sidney is their new album, I think Disaster is one of the best tracks, you can find it on the playlist. They sound really chilled but energetic and reminded me of a faster more upbeat Turnover

Weekend Debt - Legato we can't have a playlist that's heavily Scottish and not include Weekend Debts latest track! Every great playlist must include this banger it's got some chunky pace to it.

Sam Fender - Hold Out Need I say more, if you haven't heard of Sam Fender then you're really living under rock. Hold Out is the latest release and currently not main stream radios so get your fill here

The Hunna - Cover You The Hunna have been on my radar about 4 or 5 years now and their first album 100 was my sound of the summer 2016! Seeing them at Dot-to-Dot you could see they had something special. The 2nd album lost me, I think it was too much of the Label and not enough Hunna.. anyway they are back, teamed up with John Feldmann (Goldfinger/BigNoise) (!!!) for album 3 and released this corker with Travis Barker, its definitely a step toward the early Hunna.

As we're on the lines of some good chill music how about Paul Bank's (Interpol) new band Muzz and their very loungey track Bad Feelings

King Tut's Wah Wah But - Weekend Debt, Ritz, Beafets & Bight.

We're a week since we embarked on the 6month tradition of heading north of the border! Me and Richard got in the car and headed 200miles to Glasgow to watch *pause for suspension* Weekend Debt. Not many bands tick that box that'll get us traveling miles, spending money and drinking excessively on a Sunday in the middle of god-damn-January!

On the back of the release of latest single Legato (if you havent listened to it then what are you actually doing here? Go listen, then come back) it's obscene how progressive their sound is. Each time just another notch up! We have far less talented people selling arenas and these lads, doing very well, but still ain't got the recognition deserve.

I'm not gonna talk about the journey, the after-party at Priory or the after after party. See my previous posts, all I'm gonna say is this year! This year! The drive and commitment is pushing the lads, new management - if they aren't in Manchester by the end of summer then we're putting a night on ourselves.

So who is was at King Tuts? Well this January a lot of bands over the full month. Specifically 12th Jan?

Weekend Debt
The Ritz
Beafets
Bight

This was a pretty good line up, honestly never heard of the latter 3 but I'm glad I have now (Playlist at the bottom).

Bight, lo-fi dream pop trio. I like them in my car and when chilling. It wasnt the greatest start when I'm tired, slightly unwell and trying to get in the mood for some upbeat music.

Beafets, now were talking! This Scottish indie band got a lovely set of songs. Catchy tunes and really fun, Rotary Dial stuck in my head and I was singing it from 1 listen!

The Ritz, another great band! Very energetic, very fun and dual vocals add a nice depth. Check out 4am it's definitely a song you want in your playlist.

Weekend Debt, ok I've bigged them up enough, i don't know how I can add more to say how much we buzz from their music, energy and great songs. Well this is how, they up their ante! They dropped a new songs, some unreleased ones and those tracks are a step up! On all instruments and taking feedback to the extreme! The lights, sound, vocals, guitars, smoke... all on point! Drums were bouncing and loud just how we like them.

We also got introduced to guitarist from Joesef, if you ain't checked out Joesef then you need to. Added to playlist too!

Anyway here's a new more pics and the playlist!

Weekend Debt - Legato

You know we love it!

Weekend Debt released their latest track Legato 10/01/2020

Check it out! It's a little poppier than the previous songs but that's not a negative! And it's as catchy as ever! Their certainly showing off their artistic growth in the last few tracks released!

Weekend Debt - Living Under the Influence EP & Launch Party

Ahh I can talk for days so I've broken this into parts incase you want to skip sections... the EP, the journey, the gossip and the gig. I'm writing this tired and won't get chance to this weekend as were at Slamdunk Festival and I'll be worse after that, so apologies for mistakes!

Living Under The Influence EP
Damn this is a step up both technical and in the orchestration! It's amazing. We finally get a released version of Tories, Tour De France (see previous post for more on that), Miss Cougar... Name says it all. My favourite on this Il Padrino, which starts with some synths and an obscene number of build-ups! COME ON BABY

Launch Party @ Nice N Sleazy, Glasgow 23rd May

Prologue
It's a Thursday night, 200miles away from Manchester, we have work at 9am Friday - a 4hour Strategic meeting to start that day too! Any normal person would wait until the band play a local venue.
No, we're driving the 3hours to the gig and back in the same night.

Both me and Richard book Thursday off to allow us time to get North. At noon we set off, playlist at the ready, Monster Energy & Snacks at hand... Fast forward several hours, a Nando's and a couple of JDs we get to Nice N Sleazy and settle in for the evening.

Talking with WD
Whilst we sip our several JDs, (only a few, no drink driving people!) We catch up with Russell and Harvey, whilst Calvin and Grant are off interviewing / podcasting at the booth next to us.
I've not heard/read that yet, I'll share it when the lads share, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have a patch on the unrecorded conversations that went down on at our booth ;-).
I'll leave those stories between us, but maybe 'The Rus & Harv Podcast' will one day be a thing, then you can find out yourself about 2tonne TVs, Midnight Road Painting, Snakes Procreating and Balcony Scaling.

Ok I will touch on that last one, as that's the story of why the lads were tired. Getting locked out of their flat after late night practice the night before...tales of lost keys, unanswered the buzzers, a construction fence as a pseudo-ladder and balcony scaling. They finally got into their flat at 2am, before having to get up early for photoshoots!

Got to be honest, I'm feeling very tired, only on 4 hours sleep myself and a long day and drive, sometimes I wonder why we do this to ourselves.
Ha, nah, this is why we do it, the conversations, the people, THE MUSIC. When a gig starts, that energy from the stage and crowd absorbs into you, you bounce into another world!

The Gig
The support acts Third Party and Two Tone Television were both great warm ups.

Third Party (check out track RPB on Spotify), they have a different MO, often did some instrument and lead vocal switching which kept us in our toes. Very they're good! Punky / Indie / Heavy - at times they held a similar sound to False Heads!!!

Two Tone Television (check out The Heavy) they were also pretty heavy indie I liked their sound, at this point I was little preoccupied so can't comment too much, I'd definitely say they are a band to listen to and their now in my playlists

Weekend Debt
So this is the 4th time watching these guys, actually, first time with this line up - with Calvin on guitar. I was unsure how things would be without Ewan, I knew the EP was awesome and the sounds were on another level, but the guys have matured, I'm sure this is partly due to natural growth and a technical skill brought by Calvin... Undoubtedly an amazing guitarist!

The setlist was a good set, I don't want to dwell too much on the that, you know we know these guys are good. They are excelling, vocally even better than ever, entertaining both on and off stage. From Grants goosebump generating solo Magnetic Girl to Russell's sheer enthusiasm bouncing more and more as the gig goes on. Harvey with his crowd pleasing/teasing and 'Technical ability' fixing unruly Instruments... And as I said, Calvins guitar skills just another level.

My favourite parts are the rework of some of their previous tracks, adding new layers and tones. I love bands who have great studio tracks but actually perform them slightly differently and with more breadth, it's like you get several versions of a great song! On top of this, some cool feedback effects and even got a pit during Il Pedrino!

Tho the best bit, the suprise - 303 AM ... Fucking... 303 AM.... With a 2 minute solo and crowd energising buildup, I managed to get a little bit of it on video! This needs to be on every gig, infact I'd take 10minutes of this it was fucking Awesome. Plus 303 is my favourite track so this was even better!

THIS

Ahh we finally get home at 2am. New merch in hand too! Mega thanks to the lads, worth the journey, and I can tell you when these guys play your town - get there! If they aren't playing near you, get to Scotland.

For now!

Weekend Debt - Tour De France

Half the time I think I should rename this blog the Weekend Debt Fanpage, the other half it may as well be FalseHeads! In all serious though, it has been a while since I specifically wrote about Weekend Debt, but its 20:19 on 4th April 2019... 3 hours or so until the lads release Tour De France, their first actual release in over a year! I've tried to find out more but they're being secretive and to be honest the fun is in the wait.

I'll be glad to be able to listen to new track(s) on a decent form of media, rather than Soundcloud or some recording at the back of a gig on YoutubeMusic.

If you haven't heard of WeekendDebt they are a Scottish Indie Band (check the tags, I've posted a fair bit on them) and they definitely far too underrated. I came across them a few years back and they have been in my Top 3 New bands since! Ask anyone I work with, I've pushed WD on them and worn my band T's far too much! Check their website and socials to listen to some tracks (links below). Me and the team here at ALOMR love their raw talent and catchy tunes.

Anyway, Tour De France, its out in a few hours so i'm going to listen and give you the low down (either at midnight, or 7am, depending if i'm awake enough to post something meaningful)....

Links here to Tour De France

Spotify

Ok it's 12:20am had a good few listens, first things it's got a lot more production in it, sounds a lot cleaner, higher tones and more colourful (tho that may be my earphones stripping some of the bass out).

There's something about the lads and creating Intros that just pull you in! It just gets you going, hands tapping and ready to go. There's a few voice cracks from Grant at the start of the verses and actually adds a depth of emotion and keeps that rawness to the band too (the bridge 2:50 is testament to this!)

I'm noticing some nice harmonies too! Gotta be honest I'm still only about 60% on the lyrics 😁 #MansNotScottish - but that's what I love, the accents aren't lost, like many bands can often do.

It'll take a few more listens but "I don't wanna, I Don't wanna knoooww" is already stuck in my head.

It's everything I expected and more! Well worth the wait.

This guy is waiting for more details now tho :P EPs, Tour Dates, whatever it is, you can guarantee we will be on it!

Anyway I'm up in a few hours and long day, long night and considering a Chili Hot Wings eating challenge Tomorrow so I need some serious sleep and level headedness.

Gentle Giant Music Festival - Forth, Scotland.

Regular readers will know in February we headed up to Lanark, Scotland to see Weekend Debt. When we got there everyone from the Porter, the Taxi Driver to the Door Staff recommended Gentle Giant Music Festival in Forth in May. Well with that many recommendations there was no question, new music & local talent across 4 locations, for free.

The artists ranged from a 12 year old lad called Connor right through to Punk of the ages band The Jellies. The music was rock, indie, pop, you name it.

We established our base at the Legion, where everytime I bought a drink I felt like a theif. Less than £2 for a JD and Coke... What?! How do they make money. Lovely staff there, and as usual Scottish locals were all a friendly bunch.

Choosing the Legion, rather than one of the other 4 locations, purposely to catch local Indie band Weekend Debt opening the stage at 3pm. Which if you don't realise by now are top hitters for our Ones to Watch.
They performed well, unfortunately being first on meant a small crowd, but for me I enjoyed listening to the lads live whilst I was sober.

I'm not going to go too much into Weekend Debt, they are a MUST to follow check out the playlist below, and if you want to know more then click the labels to the left and read our other posts about them - very talented and top lads.

We also spent most the time at the Legion as I wanted to check out an unusual and very amazing duo. When you think rock, punk, indie I expect a trio or quartet plus. Not 2 lads one on guitar and one drums. Let alone the fact that lead singer is the drummer!!
Now you might think at this point I've lost it, how? I don't know how they do it, but do it they do, and very well.
So who are they? Pyro! Check them out in my playlist at the bottom, I'm already in touch with their manager as I'm interested in their story so me fellas over here at A Life Of Music Rocks we are going to try and get some time to find out more about them and relay it to you.

In between these two were a band called The Jellies, I struggled to find much on them beforehand (admittedly I was on Spotify rather than YouTube). But they are Punk rockers dream. I wasn't sure what to expect but all of a sudden I'd chucked my jacket somewhere and I was front centre of stage and they were knocking out Stiff Little Fingers, Pistols you name it. There was about 4 SLF tracks and I was in my elements. I love SLF and The Jellies did them justice like no other.

Shortly after this my pictures become blurred and my sobriety becomes limited.
The Gentle Giant Music Festival is one to get to, its worth heading over to Forth if for the day or staying in a local B&B. There is so much opportunity to see great talented people and they are a friendly bunch. We headed to the Mason and Inns to have a quick listen to some others musicians but swiftly headed back to the busy Legion to catch All the Franklins for a little psycedelic Indie.

The best thing about these smaller events are the opportunities to meet and chat with the artists.

Next week we head over to Dot-To-Dot Festival another slightly larger event, based in dozens of venues across Manchester (also Bristol & Nottingham the next days). 2 years ago we stood next to Dougie from Temper Trap and had a cig, mingled with The Hunna and watched Dua Lipa in front of 60people.

Now Temper Trap have been big a long time, but check The Hunna and Dua Lipa have gone from 50 people in a room, to Billions of views and sell out world tours!

So take the opportunity to go to small localised events, meet and show your gratitude in person to the musicians & organisors working hard to make it, some do, some don't. Travel local, travel far, enjoy music with fellow music lovers... And more, show it, share it, love it. I know we will.

See you in Dot-To-Dot Manchester, then All Points East in London in 2 weeks.

See you next year Gentle Giants!

Weekend Debt My View

Well finally the post gig blues have gone so I can give my view on Weekend Debt.

I will start by saying I actually had a view, I forgot how much I love the smaller gig, I was close enough that I had to reign in my jumping around so that I didn't take out the bass player

The gig took us up to Scotland on one hell of a road trip, there was lots of laughs, the occasional slamming on of breaks (god damn traffic cones) and a soundtrack taking us back to our misguided youth! If you ever get a chance to go to Lanark for a night out I can highly recommend it, the people are awesome, just be aware everywhere shuts at 1am and some bars just shut at 11 because they are to busy (this was a first for me).

The gig itself was in a bar called Woody's which had a purple ambience (check out the photos you will know what I mean) a small stage but a large bar area which we made sure to check out immediately upon arrival, £6 for two JD and Cokes, I visited it a few times...

Weekend Debt took to the stage at about 9 and well just blew me away. I have seen lots of  up and coming bands over the years and none of them have sounded as finely tuned as these guys, they are just switched on from start to finish.
They opened up with Paragon which got everyone there going immediately and then followed it up with a couple of songs that I haven't heard before but I will be badgering them to get me copies of it sent down! Next up came boiler room which is an awesome song in itself but the lads dropped Oasis's Champagne Supernova in the middle of it which I was taking as a nod to me and Michael for our long journey up (they smashed it by the way, something weirdly wonderful hearing it belted out in a Scottish accent) this was followed by a cover of Scissor Sisters Laura (a personal favourite) and then it was time to take it slow with magnetic girl, as Michael points out in his review this is where Grants vocals really come out and gave me a chance to catch my breath (aint getting any younger). For the final two songs came Boyfriend Averse and Three oh Three, pure genius and played with the same fever as the recorded tracks. The whole set was awesome, if you get chance to see these guys don't even hesitate, I am hoping to see them start coming further South where I will definitely be going to see them.

Once the set was done and the kit cleared away the lads came out for a drink, well actually they took us out as we had no idea where to go! They are a great bunch with some awesome friends, everyone wants to see them do well including me, meeting them only makes me even more confident they are going to be big, just hope that when they are they don't forget where they came from and still go back and play one off warm up gig's at Woody's as I want to go back there and have a "Mad Wir It" night!

NB Please no one else point out that I look like there father I am not taking growing old well |..|,

Weekend Debt - Woody's Lanark 9th Feb 2018

Here's My Review on Weekend Debt's Lanark Gig (Michael)

I'm going to say in advance. For those thinking TL;DR.(too long; didn't read) Skip to Paragraph 10 if you just want the core review.
Also there is a video of the roadtrip at the end.

This was a roadtrip from Bolton to Lanark and an epic well worth it journey. Anyone interested link to the drive's playlist is here: https://open.spotify.com/...Journey To Weekend Debt

Like Chris said about Alien Ant Farm... We don't go to gigs to blog, we don't go to take notes. We go for the love of music... Indie, Alt, Punk, Metal, Trance, Hip-hop... I don't care! Good music brings people together, and it is that reason we drive 189miles to see a band with a few recorded tracks, in a bar holding about 100 people.

I say a band, I don't mean that lightly, this isn't a 4 piece friends from school - ok maybe it is. But this isn't a band that just knocked together a few good rifts & a good chorus, this is a band that stands out from the very very crowded Indie scene IMO. I've listened to so many bands, and seen many more on bigger stages that haven't a touch on these guys.

In 8 weeks since I came across them, listening to 4 tracks on Spotify and few more on YouTube, I've realised that the true musicians don't come ready packed on your TV, or even picked out on BBC Introducing... sometimes you need to look yourselves. I'm glad I did, I wouldn't be in Lanark stood with 100 people singing along to 4 humble lads playing their songs.

I honestly hope in 6months to see these guys play on a stage with 10,000s, if not more, people singing along. Though actually I'd stand front row in Woody's everytime if it gave me a night like that, I'm expecting that won't be the case soon.

Anyway, we turned up hours early, fuck, not be sitting in a hotel room when Jack Daniels is waiting. Taxi to Woody's, swift one, check out the venue then grab some food.
Way too early! The lads from Weekend Debt were just setting up & got a chance to say Hi and what not.

Was buzzin, for sure! It's mad, when you listen to music day in day out and get into it so much that it becomes your daily pick me up - Interpol, Placebo, Stiff Little Fingers, Green Day, Kings of Leon, Weekend Debt, Arctic Monkeys, The Hunna... I expect to see them from afar and don't expect to be having a drink with them.

Food (American diner round corner, pretty good!), Jack. Back to Woody's to chill til they came on.
I think tweeting the journey up made for a good talking point a few people knew who we were (Bolton accents in Scotland, not a hard miss like) Shout out to the lads Callum, Lewis, Michael, I lost track of names of the rest of you all, sorry, cheers for the good night.

Also everyone was friendly as fuck, from The staff at the Best Western Cartland Bridge hotel, to the bouncers on the doors. Who all took their time to chat and tell us about Gentle Giant Music Festival. Or just general chat about favourite artists, music collaborations etc - Projects of Rage?! One for the Collaborations Playlist.

Review starts here:
Woody's is a small bar, pretty upmarket feel but doesn't hold much more then 100 maybe.
It was just us and about 10 people, including the band until 8.30 when it quickly picked up and became full. Price is slightly dearer than other places in Lanark, but still half the price of Manchester!

Layouts cool, purple lighting makes for a cool effect but pictures don't look that great cause of it. Also  the position between the stage and the toilet wasn't the ideal of scenarios. Especially when the band came on at 9pm, and it got going.

I don't recall the exact order and playlist, I went to see these guys play and my memorys a little off at the moment. Pretty sure they opened with Paragon, had a few sound issues as Grants Mic was a little low but that was quickly sorted, as well as heavy drums (who doesn't love heavy drums tho).

No gig goes without it's glitches, that's what makes it better, rawer.

That aside the further in the sound got better, I'd love to say I knew the next few songs but we're limited to to what we had access too, I'd heard Tories and Boiler Room a few times from the King Tuts videos.

The lads were in tune, in time, on point and vocally spot on. Sweet baselines from Russell, excellent solos from Ewan... I could listen to more of them. Can't beat a good guitar solo. Harvey smashing away on those drums rocking some 'trendy' as fuck trouser and white socks ;). Grants Vocals were not off at all, from start to end.

Mid set we got a fucking awesome rendition of Manchester band Oasis' Champagne Supernova, personal favourite of mine so that was mint. The crowd really getting into it and singing along more as the night went on.

Slowing the pace with Magnetic Girl, where Grants Vocals really get shown off.
Back up to a heavy pace and singalong with Boyfriend Averse and Three oh Three (my personal favourite)

We also got a taste of a new track, which I wish I remembered the name of. It starts in with a funky AF bassline which immediately pulls you in... Game changer here... a few tempo switches throughout, showing some real skills! And solos parts all around. It all happened so fast I now need to wait till it's released to hear it properly. Top notch though.

Overall venue was decent, band was on form, audience were a laugh and Mad With It (Scottish equivalent of Mad For It) what more could you want. That in itself was what we came from and I'd do even just that bit again next weekend if they were on.

Back into chatting,  TL;DR'ers free to leave. Just share first yea!

What more could you want? Well after, it gave us a chance to speak to lads properly and have a few drinks around with them and their mates. You never know what to expect, they say don't meet your heros because it's generally a let down and ruins it. Now 2 months listening ain't in the Hero bracket, not yet, but could still put a spoiler on your listen if they turn out to be a Grade A c*nt.

Fair to say that was not the case. These guys are true fellas, who are as into their music as you and me. Talking about their inspirations, eclectic music tastes, gaming and general being down to earth.
Welcoming, Friendly, Humble, and worthy of some real recognition.

So what next?
For them... They've got gigs around Glasgow, new tracks in the pipeline and some interesting projects.

For me... I don't know. I've got a few weeks to chill music wise,  hopefully help my bro get his studio going. This trip did make me realise how many people live and love music as much as us, so we'll keep sharing, you keep sharing.

For you...
Listen to their music, follow them on whatever social media you use, get to a gig, share with your friends. I promise you, you will not be let down.

Weekend Debt - Merch

Oh super excited this morning!
So way back when I did a Three oh Three AM misheard lyrics blog. I got a reply on Facebook off Grant  where he sent the actual lyrics and said to message him and he would send some merch. I messaged but I didn't give my address, I felt cheeky messaging just to get free merch, so I just discussed the bands tracks and gigs and left it at that.

Anyways I decided I'd support the band and actually buy a T-Shirt (£5 limited edition), having ordered 1 black Weekend Debt T-Shirt, it took a few weeks and hadn't received anything, so I dropped Dougie @ Dovecot an email following up the order and he apologised on the delay and said he'd sort it and chuck some extras in.

Well... Today the parcel came, and that parcel was far bigger than anyone would have expected. 2 T-shirts, 5 copies of their EP, Stickers, Business cards, Buttons, a signed Poster and a Photo!!
Yea, Proper fanboy now!!

So much merchandise!!

And now it's not just me blogging about my views, it's a team! We've started a brand and we're promoting it and our favourite artists. Who knows how far we'll take this, full blown music promotion?

For now though A Life Of Music Rocks and we'll be sharing it with you!

And with all the extra merch we're looking into some competitions ideas.... Watch this space.

Weekend Debt - Three Oh Three AM lyrics (updated with actuals)

Following on adding weekend debt lyrics, I tried to do Three Oh Three AM lyrics. Well that was a nightmare talk about misheard lyrics 😂 I think I'm not one cat Darling!

Anyway, again have a listen on Spotify

https://open.spotify.com/track/5mldJwRSbDKb4l8qnfhBw9?si=6rqrn4U8QEafhaVBbbZ-rA

Edit: so thanks to @weekenddebt Twitter I've been given the correct lyrics for the bit that's sounded like "I think I'm not one cat Darling.." so I've updated the lines.

Edit pt2: Grant replied on Facebook and sent through the actual lyrics so I've dropped these in. Fair to say I was a fair bit off. But happy singing now :D

Courtesy of Grant Scott:

Three oh three a.m.

Early morning
Late thinking
Country boy
Cunt of a boy
Fire your parka on
And bounce out
 take your tie off though
He don't know you patched English to see him

Down at broadwicks bunking gaff
Drinking spirits out a flask
We make our craft
Simpatico and funny
Honey, tell me where you go
But I drink black not mocha darling
Don't tell me to grow
Did you come alone??
Did you what

You used go to see all the bands you liked
But you would dream of him in another light
Cause he would knock you over and chuck you down
And he would call you princess, then smash your crown
He was the one for you, or so you said
But that's cause he's 20 and he takes you to bed
And all the kids from school know that your bad
Does he drive you mad?

Down at broadwicks bunking gaff
Drinking spirits out a flask
We make our craft
Simpatico and funny
Honey, tell me where you go
But I drink black not mocha darling
Don't tell me to grow
Are you going home?
Are you what

Down at broadwicks bunking gaff
Drinking spirits out a flask
We make our craft
Simpatico and funny
Honey, tell me where you go
But I drink black not mocha darling
Don't tell me to grow
Does your dad condone?
Does he fuck

And here's my original attempt to write out their lyrics, captured in time for shits and giggles.

Weekend Debt - Three Oh Three AM  Lyrics my misheard ones (well almost lol)

Early morning, I'm late thinking.

Oh he's a country boy
He's a (?) boy   [listening to radio edit]
Fire your Parker on though, and bounce out
But take your tie off though cause he don't know
You've part extinguished to see him (?)

Down at Broadway spunking gaft (?)

Drinking spirits how they're fast
We make our calf(?)
Oh you're so practical and funny, Honey, tell me where to go
I think I'm not one cat Darling!
But I drink black not mocha, Darling,
don't tell me to go!
Did you come alone?
Did you what?

You used to go and see all the bands you liked

But you would dream of him in another light
Cause he would knock you over then push down
And he would call you Princess and smash your crown
He was the one for you, or so you said.
But that's cause he's 20 and he takes you to bed.
All the guys in school knew that your bad
Does he drive you mad?

Down at Broadway spunking gaft (?)

Drinking spirits, how they're fast
We make our cars (?)
Oh you're so practical and funny, Honey, tell me where to go
But I drink back from none cat (?!), Darling,
But I drink black not mocha, Darling,

don't tell me to go!

Are you going home!
Are you what?

Down at Broadway spunking gaft (?)

Drinking spirits how they're fast
We make our calf(?)
Oh you're so practical and funny, Honey, tell me where to go
But I think back from one cat (?! Nope I'm done),
But I drink black not mocha, Darling,

don't tell me to go!

Darling, don't tell me to go!
Cause you're backing down (?)
Does he what?

Lining Up 2018 Indie Bands (Yonaka, Sea Girls, Weekend Debt & More..)

The last few years has been good for some Indie Bands I've been following. Watching bands such as The Hunna open small independent festivals in a Cathedral of 50 people, to the following year Headlining Festival Republics stage at Leeds Festival, or The Sherlock's first album release and massive nationwide tour.  Admittedly just as many haven't made it.

So who's on the radar for success in 2018? I'm not sure! But here's a list of some of the up and comings on my playlist, I'm hoping to hear more of.
I'm Really liking Yonaka - who draws similarities to Yeah Yeah Yeahs & No Doubt, and I'm
also liking the sound of Sea Girls, very British Indie, think Bastille!
If you're interested in a really new raw Indie band listen to Weekend Debt, a Scottish band with influences from Arctic Monkeys & Courteeners, with a deeper twist.

Yonaka
Sea Girls
Weekend Debt
Sam Fender

Le Boom
False Heads
Shame

Have a listen to the playlist and see what you think?
